Hernias are a common condition caused by a weakness in the abdominal wall. They can frequently cause pain and discomfort. If left untreated they can cause problems such as bowel obstuction or strangulation. There are a number of different types of hernias including inguinal, femoral, incisional and spigelian. Mr Loganathan is very experienced at treating all of these types and has published research in the field.

Problems in the gastrointestinal tract can be caused by a number of different conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis or crohns disease and bowel cancer. These can present with a number of symptoms such as rectal bleeding, weight loss, bloating, abdominal pain, and change in bowel habit. Mr Loganathan will perform a detailed clinical assessment and arrange investigations which may include blood tests, stool tests and commonly endoscopic investigations such as flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.
